Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Pick your batch

For 2 to 3 servings, use 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons rosé wine, 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons white cranberry strawberry juice, and ¼ cup simple syrup. For 4 to 6 servings, use the amounts in the ingredient list. For 6 to 8 servings, use 4⅓ cups wine, 3 cups juice, and ⅔ cup syrup. Start with everything well chilled.

  2. Whisk it together

Whisk the wine, juice, and syrup together in a pitcher or a large bowl until combined.

  3. Pour and run Spiked Slush

Pour the mixture into the vessel, keeping it at or below the max fill line, and select SPIKED SLUSH. Then set the temperature control so 8 bars light up: this batch wants the extra cold. Depending on the batch, plan on 30 to 50 minutes.

  4. Garnish and serve

When the drink reaches its best texture the machine beeps three times. Pour it into glasses, perch a strawberry on each rim, and serve immediately.

Where the calories live

The rosé wine brings the biggest share of the calories here, about 54 percent of the batch, with the simple syrup next in line.

About the alcohol

The pour is part of the flavor and part of the math: about 47 percent of the calories in every glass come from the alcohol itself.

Want a lighter pour

Pour a smaller glass and top it with sparkling water. The flavor stretches and the landing gets gentler.

Frequently asked questions

What are the three batch sizes?

For 2 to 3 servings: 2 cups plus 2 tablespoons (500 ml) rosé wine, 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons (270 ml) white cranberry strawberry juice, and ¼ cup (60 ml) simple syrup. For 4 to 6 servings: 3¼ cups (770 ml) wine, 2¼ cups (530 ml) juice, and ½ cup (120 ml) syrup. For 6 to 8 servings: 4⅓ cups (1 L) wine, 3 cups (710 ml) juice, and ⅔ cup (160 ml) syrup.

Why set the temperature control to 8 bars?

This recipe runs colder than the preset starting point on purpose. A wine based drink freezes softer than a juice based one, and the extra cold keeps the pour thick instead of soupy.

What rosé should I use?

A dry to off dry rosé you would happily drink on its own. Very sweet bottles make a very sweet slush, because the juice and the syrup bring sugar of their own.

Any cleanup tips?

Leave the preset running until every bit of the drink has been dispensed. An empty vessel rinses clean far more easily than one with frozen frosé still coating the sides.
