About this policy
Scoop & Slush is an independent recipe and guides website for owners of Ninja CREAMi and Ninja SLUSHi machines, published online and operated from Manitoba, Canada. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit the site, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Scoop & Slush is a static website. It has no accounts, no comments, and no reader database, and we do not sell personal information to anyone. The site is written for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Information collected
Very little information reaches us, or the services we rely on:
- Hosting logs. Our hosting provider processes standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Analytics data. We use Google Analytics to understand readership. It collects information such as pages visited, time spent on the site, approximate location derived from your IP address, and device and browser details.
- On site search. Search runs entirely in your browser, using an index built into the site. Your search terms are not sent to us and are not recorded.
- Newsletter signup. When you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address goes to follow.it, the service that delivers our newsletter email.
- Messages you send us. When you write to us through the contact form, we receive what you enter, such as your name, your email address, and the contents of your message.
The newsletter is delivered through follow.it. Subscribing adds your email address to our newsletter list at follow.it, and every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link. The contact form delivers your message to our inbox so we can reply.
How information is used
Information described in this policy is used only for the purpose it was gathered:
- To deliver, secure, and maintain the website.
- To send the newsletter to readers who subscribed.
- To respond to messages, questions, and correction requests.
- To understand, in general terms, which recipes and guides readers enjoy, so the site can improve.
Cookies & similar technologies
This site uses cookies for measurement and advertising:
- Google Analytics sets cookies, including _ga and _gid, to tell visitors and sessions apart and to measure how the site is used.
- Google AdSense and its advertising partners may set cookies to serve ads, including ads based on your visits to this site and to other sites.
- Our hosting provider may set cookies that are strictly related to security and to the delivery of the site.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time, and the site will still work. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your Google account ad settings or at aboutads.info, and Google offers a browser add on that disables Google Analytics measurement.
Service providers
These external services process information in connection with this site:
- Cloudflare provides website hosting and content delivery, and processes technical logs as described above, under its own privacy policy.
- Google Analytics provides readership measurement.
- Google AdSense provides the advertising shown on this site.
- follow.it delivers the newsletter to subscribers.
The typefaces used on this site are served from the site itself, not from a third party font service. Each service above processes information under its own privacy policy. If another service is ever added, it will be listed in this section before it is used.
Retention & security
Hosting logs are kept by our hosting provider under its own retention practices. Messages sent to us are kept in our inbox for as long as they remain useful for correspondence and records, and deleted when they are no longer needed. Newsletter subscriptions are held by follow.it until you unsubscribe. Analytics information is retained inside Google Analytics under that service’s retention settings and is available to us in aggregate reporting form.
The site is delivered over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and this policy does not claim otherwise.
Your choices
Depending on where you live, including under Canadian privacy law, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to request a correction, or to request its deletion. In practice, the personal information we hold is limited to any message you have sent us and, if you subscribed, your email address on our newsletter list. Hosting logs are held by our provider, and analytics data is held by Google and is not used by us to identify individual readers.
To make a request, or to ask anything about your information, reach us through the Contact page .
